NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Katie Kinum poured in a game-high 19 points with 11 rebounds as the Lady Pioneers pulled away from Union Catholic in a 43-32 victory on Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the Union County Tournament.

Kinum scored nine of her game-leading 19 points in the first quarter, while teammate Hannah Caminiti hit her stride late in the second frame, hitting long range shots that continued after the break with 16 game points.

The final score is not indicative of the entire game, as things were tight early with back and forth play before New Providence grabbed a commanding lead late in the second quarter behind an 8 point run, giving New Providence a 26-16 halftime lead. The Lady Pioneers continued to dominate and led by as many as 18 in the fourth quarter.

With this victory, the No. 2 seeded Lady Pioneers will play No. 7 seeded Gov. Livingston in the quarterfinal round of the UCT on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Rahway High School, 1012 Madison Ave, Rahway.
