New Providence Wins Seventh Straight Sectional Boys Tennis Title; Pioneers Top No. 1 Seed Glen Ridge

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - No. 3 seed New Providence Boys Tennis team captured their 7th straight NJSIAA North 2 Group 1 Sectional Championship, 3-2, over top seeded Glen Ridge Monday afternoon in Clifton.

Chrstiano Hocken defeated Ethan Che in third singles in straight sets (6-2, 6-2). The first doubles team of Brett Caminiti and Johnny Souren defeated A. Weissman and C. Linehan (6-2, 7-5) and the second doubles team of Brian Kelly and Eric Schneider defeated  A. Segal and N. Vecchione (7-5, 6-0). 

New Providence received a bye in the first round and beat Harrison 5-0 in the quarter finals and the No. 2 seed Hasbrouk Heights, 4-1, in the semi-finals. 

The Pioneers head to Mercer County Park to take on No. 1 seed Mountain Lakes in the Group 1 Semi-finals on Wednesday.
