NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ -- Most of the members of a young New Providence varsity wrestling team will be back next year.
On Wednesday night, the Pioneers honored the only two 12th-graders in the program on Senior Night before their match against Irvington.
Seniors Chris "Lucky" Robinson and Noran Elmahroukey took part in the pre-game ceremony with family members.
New Providence wrestling coach Shane Mallory praised Robinson for his marked improvement in just his second year in the program after joining the team as a junior, and Elmahroukey for being a trailblazer as a girl in her first season as a wrestler.
Robinson has won 13 matches this season, wrestling at both 152 pounds and 160 pounds. Elmahroukey has a 20-1 record counting her matches against both boys and girls.
Irvington won the match, 51-21. Luke Driscoll highlighted the match for New Providence with a 6-3 decision over Irvington's Adrian Grace at 138 pounds.
