NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra (NJIO) is excited to welcome newcomers to its 23rd season.  Whether you are a musician looking for an excellent non-competitive orchestra to join or an avid classical music lover seeking free concerts, NJIO invites you to learn more about this organization based in New Providence.

At the beginning of the 2016-17 season, NJIO will hold two open house rehearsals on September 15 and 22.  Musicians of all ages and abilities are welcome to join one or all of our orchestras during these rehearsals.  It’s the start of a new concert period and the music is new to everyone.  Come get the feel of the orchestra and see why the musicians love being a part of the NJIO family!  Prelude Ensemble, an ensemble intended for beginning strings, rehearses 4:30-5:30 pm.  Intermezzo Orchestra, an intermediate-level group that recently expanded to a full symphony orchestra (strings, winds, brass, and percussion), rehearses from 5:45-7:00 pm and Symphony Orchestra, the more advanced symphony orchestra, rehearses from 7:15-9:30 pm.

Mark it on your calendar: NJIO’s first concert of the season is Sunday, November 13th at 3:00 pm at the beautiful neo-Gothic Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church in Plainfield.  Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Artistic Director Warren Cohen, will play works by Borodin, Glazunov, and Mozart.  The orchestra will accompany pianist Angela Zhao, the first-place winner of NJIO’s annual Young Artist Concerto Competition, in the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 22.  Intermezzo Orchestra will perform works by Gliere and Mozart.  NJIO warmly welcomes Brian McGowan as the new Intermezzo conductor.  Be sure to arrive early to the concert to hear the Prelude Ensemble perform in the lobby!

And Over Here is the Dining Hall 2

My very first job in admissions was while I was still an undergraduate myself as a tour guide.  Very early on they indoctrinated us with some tricks of the trade.  It’s a dining hall, not a cafeteria.  A residence hall, not a dorm.  If you have to divulge some negative bit of information, sandwich it between two positives.  There were instructions for glossing over ...
