NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - New Providence High School ranks among the best public schools in New Jersey, and is the top public high school in Union County, according to New Jersey Monthly's Top High Schools 2014 survey.

According to a release by the monthly publication, the rankings are compiled by Leflein Associates, an independent research company in Ringwood. Those ratings are based on the 2012-2013 schoolyear and data reported by schools to the New Jersey Department of Education.

Student/teacher ratio, results of SAT, HSPA and AP or IB tests, and graduation rates all factor into the final rankings, according to New Jersey Monthly.
