NPHS Senior Nick Papadimas' Experience as a TAP into Student Intern

During my time at New Providence High School, I learned various necessary life lessons and have had lots of superb academic experiences. I was able to take advantage of the wonderful athletic and academic programs New Providence High School had to offer during my four years of attendance which had amazing teachers and coaches. The most notable life experience I had while attending New Providence High School was writing for TAPinto New Providence for four years.

The recommendation given from my former World and British Literature teacher at New Providence High School, Mrs. Joanne Trimble, to inquire about TAPinto New Providence during the first month of my freshman year, has allowed me to grow as an aspiring journalist. Over the last four years, I have obtained press credentials from the NJSIAA to cover high school sports throughout New Jersey and have been published more than forty times on The Alternative Press. As a result, I have been accepted into many colleges throughout the nation. By writing for TAP, I traveled all over Union County and have covered high school sports at various venues including Mennen Arena, Kean University, and Union Sports Arena.

Though I have a few years of writing experience under my belt, I have also been told that I am a talented sports photographer. My passion for sports has not only assisted me with excelling as a writer, it has also assisted me in becoming a better photographer, and most importantly, a better person. This has all been thanks to TAPinto New Providence, the guidance of my teachers, my family, and my publisher and editors at TAPinto New Providence: Mr. Michael Shapiro, Mrs. Bobbie Peer, and Mr. Tim LeCras.

I intend to strengthen my self-taught writing skills in college through studying Journalism, Communications, and Law. I also plan on contributing for my college's newspaper and radio station. After graduation, I see myself being involved in a dream that I have had since day one becoming a professional sports writer and journalist.

Editor's Note: Nick Papadimas is a Senior at NPHS who writes for TAP into New Providence through the TAP into New Providence Intern Program. To learn more about the program email bpeer@tapinto.net.

We Need More Women Like Colleen Mahr in Municipal, County and State Government

February 19, 2018

Dear Editor:

I’m proud to support Colleen Mahr for Chair of the Union County Democratic Committee  (UCDC) and am encouraging my Scotch Plains peers to join me.

I was a first time candidate wanting to make a difference in my hometown of Scotch Plains, when Mayor Mahr of neighboring Fanwood stepped in to help me campaign and win my election to be Councilwoman three years ago.

Democratic Party Would Be Making a Big Mistake by Not Recognizing Colleen Mahr's Talents

Dear Editor:

Mayor Colleen Mahr has been a valuable friend to the Township of Cranford. Whether it’s offering advice and assistance during devastating flood cleanup, supporting the Mayor's Council on the Rahway River, or her insight and assistance in meeting our affordable housing obligations, Mayor Mahr is always there for Cranford.

Colleen’s fairness and integrity is ...
