The New Providence Memorial Library is the latest recipient of Overlook Medical Center's Health Literacy Tote Bag initiative. Each Health Literacy tote bag is available to check out for 28 days and contains up-to-date books, DVDs, CDs and/or brochures on a particular health topic.
Topics currently include Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, autism, bereavement, diabetes in English or Spanish, healthy weight, hospice, mental health, opioid and substance abuse, prediabetes, Parkinson's disease, and strength improvement, with more topics to come. A complete list can be found by searching Overlook Medical Center in the library catalog.
The Health Literacy Tote Bag initiative is supported in part with funding from the Chubb Foundation and Novartis. The Health Sciences Library at Overlook Medical Center selected the materials for each of the health literacy tote bags.
The tote bags are shelved at the end of the large print books, across from the public computers. The New Providence Memorial Library is located at 377 Elkwood Avenue in New Providence. For more information, call the library at (908) 665-0311.
