NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Ask most people about what they would rather eat--a fat juicy cheeseburger or a plant-based soy burger--and most people would choose the former. But this month Prestige Diner in New Providence has been serving Impossible Burgers (and a whole host of other Impossible-ingredient dishes like tacos and breakfast wraps) and people have been stunned how similar to beef these plant patties taste. 

Impossible Foods recently released their Impossible Beef, featuring a molecule called Heme, which is what makes meat taste like meat. It’s an essential molecule found in every living plant and animal -- most abundantly in animals. Their plant-based heme is made via fermentation of genetically engineered yeast. So it comes pretty close to tasting like the beef you're used to. 

Always looking for new menu items to satisfy customer demand, Prestige owners Harry and Jimmy Vardas recently created a whole menu featuring the Impossible beef: tacos, salad, burgers and bolognese sauce over pasta. Customers seem to appreciate the offering and have posted rave comments on the Prestige Diner's FB page like:

Prestige Diner, a family restaurant and unofficial gathering place of New Providence, offers a full bar with craft beers, rated wines and high quality spirits, as well as a diverse all-day menu.
