Pure Pilates to Hold “Breathing Life into Lung Cancer” Event on November 23rd

Pure Pilates, a boutique studio located in New Providence, NJ, will hold a “Breathing Life into Lung Cancer” Event on Sunday, November 23g at the Pure Pilates studio located at 133 Gales Drive.  The event is in memory of Pure Pilates client, Barbara Densen, and in support of Mass General Hospital for Ground Breaking Lung Cancer Therapy.

The event will consist of five 45 minute Reformer classes in the morning from 7:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., taught by Pure Pilates Instructors donating their time for the cause.  Breakfast will be served and raffle prizes will be awarded after each class.  There is a suggested donation of $30.00 for each Reformer class taken and all proceeds will go to Mass General Hospital in memory of Pure Pilates client, Barbara Densen.  Registration is required for the classes and can be done so by calling the studio at (908) 286-1100 or visiting the site at  All are welcome to attend – and no Pilates experience is necessary.

Barbara Densen learned she had late-stage lung cancer in 2010, and brought her fight to Mass General.  Densen underwent multiple lung cancer therapies but she eventually became resistant to her therapies and passed away in July, 2013. Given less than a year to live at diagnosis, she survived and thrived for more than three years, living long enough to see her daughter marry, a son graduate high school, and to fulfill a lifetime wish to hike the hills of Sedona and visit the Grand Canyon.  In her memory, friends and family of Barbara Densen created the Targeting a Cure for Lung Cancer Fund to support the lung cancer research program at Mass General.

Lung cancer kills three times more people than any other cancer, and it claims substantially more female lives than breast, ovarian and uterine cancers combined.  One in 14 Americans — most of whom never smoked or stopped smoking a long time ago — will receive a lung cancer diagnosis. Most will not survive five years.

Join Pure Pilates in the fight for a cure, and in support of all those currently living with the disease.

About Mass General Hospital for Ground Breaking Cancer Therapy:

Mass General Hospital has led the way in developing targeted therapies, “smart bombs” that seek out and kill cancer cells with a specific genetic mutation. A common mutation found in lung cancer — epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) — was discovered at Mass General in the early 2000s.  For more information, and to learn how to donate to the Targeting a Cure for Lung Cancer Fund you can visit their site at

And Over Here is the Dining Hall 2

My very first job in admissions was while I was still an undergraduate myself as a tour guide.  Very early on they indoctrinated us with some tricks of the trade.  It’s a dining hall, not a cafeteria.  A residence hall, not a dorm.  If you have to divulge some negative bit of information, sandwich it between two positives.  There were instructions for glossing over ...
