NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Seven juveniles were taken into custody, one was hospitalized for severe intoxication and two adults were arrested after police found several people hiding in an unoccupied home on Elkwood Avenue.
According to police reports, a neighbor notified police after observing some people entering a neighbor’s home was supposed to be unoccupied. When police arrived, they saw several indiviuals run from the home. The home’s doors were open and police observed numerous people inside. As police were attempting to locate the homeowner, they found more people hiding in the home.
Seven juveniles were taken into protective custody and released to their parents. An adult identified as Julian Navarette, 18, of New Providence was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. He was released to a family member with a pending court date.
Police said a juvenile female who was severely intoxicated was transported to Overlook Hospital by the New Providence Rescue Squad. Police also arrested Christopher Price, 51, of New Providence for driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to breath tests after he drove up to the scene while police were investigating.
Price was transported to police headquarters and was later released to a friend with a pending court date.
