SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – The New Providence boys’ soccer team fell to undefeated Union Catholic, 1-0, on Tuesday.
Brandon Barros-Dias’s first half goal proved to be the game’s only tally, as the Vikings improved to 11-0 on the season, while the Pioneers dropped to 4-4.
New Providence goalkeeper Dillon Konzelmann made seven saves in the losing effort.
The Pioneers are back in action on Thursday when they visit David Brearley for the two teams’ third meeting of the year. The latest chapter in the rivalry a preliminary round match in the Union County Tournament.
On the girls’ side, goals from four different Scotch Plains-Fanwoo players led to a 4-0 victory for the Raiders.
Caroline Babis, Taylor Diggs, Jillian Lapidus and Christina Rodgers each scored, as Scotch Plains-Fanwood also improved to 11-0.
Pioneer keeper Jen Maluso made 10 saves in the game.
New Providence also returns to action on Thursday when they hit the road for a match at Oak Knoll. Kick-off for both games is scheduled for 4 p.m.
