NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Scores of local residents made their way downtown to Centennial Park on a cool summer night, to partake in the annual New Providence Summer Concert Series. This year’s concert series was kicked off with a lively performance from the Asbury Fever Jersey Shore Party Band a Bruce Springsteen cover band.
While Asbury Fever gave a riveting performance, the crowd had a mostly mellow demeanor, sitting back in their lawn chairs or laying down on their blankets, enjoying good music, while the kids ran around enjoying the magician and face painting and ice cream provided by Zita's. Free water provided by Acme and hot dogs provided by Prestige Diner (served by Lions Club members) was also enjoyed by all concert goers. As the night progressed more and more people began to arrive and Asbury Fever became more animated. The lead singer stepped into the crowd and brought the music off the stage to where New Providence residents were sitting. While the saxophonist played his solo, the lead singer pulled a member out of the crowd and began dancing.
New Providence Concert series runs for two more consecutive Thursday’s, July 26 and August 2, with the last show scheduled for Tuesday August 7, 2018 on National Night Out.
The concert series is presented by the New Providence Business Association and the season long sponsors include: Creative Wallcoverings and Interiors, Lantern Hill, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, The Prestige Diner, Elefante Music, Lions Club International, the Downtown Improvement District, and Zita’s Homemade Ice Cream.
