Summit, NJ -- St. Teresa of Avila Parish will hold its annual Dinner for Life on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the Grand Summit Hotel. Mass will precede the dinner at 6:00 PM at St. Teresa of Avila Church on Morris Ave.
A long-time tradition at the parish, sponsored by the Faith and Life Society, this event will celebrate two individuals who have had an impact on upholding the sanctity of life. The Guest Speaker at the dinner will be Dr. Anne Nolte, MD, Director of St. Peter’s Gianna Center for Women in New York City. Dr. Nolte is a board-certified family physician with an area of concentration in women’s health and fertility. She is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and completed her undergraduate studies at Villanova University. Dr. Nolte is Co-Founder of the National Gianna Center, the first pro-life, faith-based women’s medical center in NYC. She is also the co-founder of the John Paul II Center for Women, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating women, couples and teenagers about the Christian vision of the dignity of women, the meaning of human sexuality, and the benefits of natural family planning.
The Honoree of the Dinner for Life is Father Lawrence J. Fama, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Maywood, NJ. Father Larry was ordained on May 30, 1992, and was first assigned to St. Philomena Parish in Livingston. After assignments at St. Mary’s in Rutherford and St. Helen’s in Westfield, Fr. Larry was appointed the pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace in 2007. During his 26+ years as a priest, he has shown a real commitment to the sanctity of life. From 2013 to 2018, he served as Director of the Respect Life Office in the Archdiocese of Newark.
This popular event has drawn attendees from various parishes in the Archdiocese of Newark. Dinner reservations are $75 per person, or $750 per table of 10.
