SUMMIT, NJ - Choosing a summer camp can be a challenging decision for parents and potential campers alike. Summit-based The Connection for Women and Families is doing their part to make the process as much fun as the camp itself.
The Connection will host a Summer Camp Open House on Sunday, January 31, from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m., designed to introduce their summer program enhancements.
Open House attendees will experience the “Camp Sampler” including:
- Free swim with the Ice Adventure Float,
- Adance party
- STEM related games
- Face painting
Complete information for parents, free giveaways, and a “sign up early and save” option are also part of the Open House experience.
New for 2016, The Connection's SummerFun Day Camp will include STEM programming. Summer is an ideal time for kids to build, create and explore. The Connection’s new STEM-inspired activities will encourage innovation, invention and make learning fun.
Swim lessons, gymnastics, sports, dance, yoga, art and more will continue to be included in the SummerFun rotations.
In addition, "Lights! Camera! Action! Performing Arts Camp" has announced that campers will perform on the Summit Middle School stage, and will have two components to choose from.
“Backstage Pass” will explore behind the scenes elements by designing and creating sets, costumes, props and staging, while “Stars on Stage” will be for campers who love to sing, dance and perform in one of the four summer performances. Shows for Summer 2016 include: "Frozen," "Wizard of Oz," "Finding Nemo," and "High School Musical."
The Connection will also be offering a new coed three-day “Jr. Warrior Mini-Camp” August 22 - 24. Campers will use specially designed ninja challenge course equipment, gymnastics equipment, and more.
Travel Camp, open to boys and girls ages 8-up, has announced their 2016 trips. This summer campers will have a blast traveling to: Dutch Springs Aqua Park, Dorney Park Amusement Park, Gazillion Bubble Show, Powerhouse Studio Wild and Wacky Game Show Challenge, and iPlay America.
As a special offer, Open House participants who take advantage of early camp registration will receive credit to use towards future classes at The Connection. Those signing up for 2-4 weeks of camp will receive a $50 credit, or $100 credit if registering for 5-8 weeks of camp.
