Summit Mayor Jordan Glatt will speak at the July 20 meeting of the Summit Old Guard at 10 AM at the New Providence Municipal Center. The title of his speech is "I don't mean to bother you but…." Mr. Glatt is the first Democratic mayor to be elected in Summit in 100 years in 2003. He was re-elected in November, 2007 with more than 60% of the vote. He started his political career in 2001 when he was elected as Councilman At Large. He is the president of Magla Products, LLC, a consumer household and work glove company that is headquartered in Morristown.

Volunteerism has been an important part of Jordan's life during his seventeen years in Summit. He is co-founder of First Night Summit in1993. He also is the founder of the Mayor's Partnership for Technology in the Summit Public Schools (Project Laptop). He is a graduate of Drew University and a Trustee of the school. He and his wife Suzanne are the parents of two sons.

All area 50-plus active men are invited to attend meetings of the Summit Area Old Guard on Tuesday mornings at the New Providence Municipal Center at 360 Elkwood Avenue. A coffee hour starts at 9:15 that is followed by a 10 AM short business meeting. Old Guard members participate in sports, bridge, hikes, trips, plays, concerts and cultural events. The Old Guard is planning a dinner cruise on the Hudson on July 22. This year marks the 80th anniversary of The Summit Old Guard.
