Dr. Phil Eisner is a resident of Summit and a well-known local scientist who has made it his mission to educate the public on environmental matters.  He will be speaking on Sustainability: Nature vs. Technology on Thursday, November 21 at 7:30 PM at the New Providence Memorial Library located at 377 Elkwood Avenue in New Providence.

The seriousness of the Sustainability Issue has become increasingly important and obvious over the last 50 years driven by an increasing human population (sex) with increasing per-capita resource consumption (greed). We must meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Dr. Eisner will discuss how our huge, increasing human population is colliding with the natural world in a battle of Nature versus Technology. This battle is causing great, even fatal harm to the Earth’s vital natural systems that we and all life on this planet depend on. Dr. Eisner will examine the destructive roles of industrial pollution, waste disposal, over-consumption of vital resources, land and fresh water use, and the fragmentation and destruction of wilderness.'

The talk is FREE and open to the public.
