NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - TAPinto "Spotlight on Business" features local businesses and their owners who are important to our communities. Follow this column to receive a fresh perspective on small business owners and their unique needs while shining a spotlight on their stories.

This edition features Santa Fe Childcare Centers, an independent, family owned daycare for over 20 years that has recently changed ownership to Alison and Mark Aromando of Madison.

“Santa Fe Centers offers educational childcare on an acre of land where kids can run, play, learn and love every minute of just being a kid,” said new owner Alison Aromando,  “The philosophy of our center is to provide a loving, caring and safe environment allowing children to explore the world around them and learn through developmentally appropriate activities.”

"Through the teachers and staff at Santa Fe, we are making it our mission to offer the same loving and safe environment to families in the community that we searched for years ago when our three children were young," said Aromando.

What is unique about your business?

Santa Fe Centers has an acre of land for lots of outdoor play and we have a low staff-student ratio. We also offer Kindergarten with a full-day wrap around option.

What is most important for people to know about your business?

We offer full-time and part-time options for children three months through Kindergarten as well as a summer camp program. We are enrolling now!

What sets you apart from your competition?

Two things: our philosophy and dedication. We know first-hand the challenges of looking for good childcare, as we were both working in NYC when our children were young. Finding the right childcare is one of the most important decisions parents have to make and we want to help others as they try to balance work and family.

What else distinguishes your business from others?

In particular, we love the limited technology in the classroom and emphasis on outdoor play and exposure to nature—there is a huge outdoor play area on an acre of land—the largest we have ever seen for a childcare center in the area.

Alison and Mark Aromando have been members of the extended local community throughout their life, growing up in Florham Park and Summit, respectively, and reside in Madison with their three children.

Santa Fe Childcare Centers at 1441 & 1496 Springfield Ave in New Providence can be reached at (908) 665-1235 or email santafechildcarecenters@gmail.com. Follow them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Santa-Fe-Centers-154836647887847/

What's Hot and What's Not

Summer is a great time to take a step back, sip a cool beverage, and take a look at what’s going on in the world of college admissions.  Departments use the summer to evaluate how their year went and plan on any changes they want to make for the fall.  Did they over-enroll? Under-enroll?  What application materials were useful to them?  Which were redundant or time ...
