The Connection for Women and Families “Thinks Pink” for Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October and year-round.

Pathways, a program of The Connection for Women and Families, began by offering professionally-led support groups to women with breast cancer as well as educational events, and has evolved over the years to providing services to women with any cancer diagnosis.  In addition to support groups, current activities include wellness programs, such as Gentle Yoga, SisterStrong, and Team SOS Dragon Boat team; and educational programs, such as informative nutrition classes.

Pathways also offers unique programs serving the community such as Pathways Cooks, which prepares and delivers meals to women in treatment, and the unique Women’s Cancer Teaching Project, where trained breast and gynecological cancer survivors have spoken to over 4,500 healthcare professionals and students with the goal of enhancing patient-centered, humanistic healthcare.  The Project empowers cancer survivors by knowing that sharing their journeys enlightens others. The Pathways Financial Assistance Fund assists women experiencing financial duress during their treatment by helping them pay for a medical bill or desperately needed screening or purchase a wig or prosthesis.

The Pathways mission has remained the same over the years…providing community-based services, free of charge, to women with a history of cancer, and creating a community in which shared experiences lead to personal growth and healing.  The variety of programs offered by Pathways make it easy for every woman to feel at home, regardless of their diagnosis and no matter where they find themselves in their cancer journey.

Help keep these programs and support groups free to all local survivors. Pathways relies on donations to run free wellness programs to help women recover from their rigorous treatment and support groups to connect them with others who have shared the same journey.

Lesley Andrews, Pathways Director says, “Like so many other women, Pathways supported me through the most challenging time in my life.  When I was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago, a Pathways breast cancer survivor support group was there during every step of my journey: through surgeries, chemotherapy and the pursuit of my dream of having children, despite cancer (I now have three!). When I was back on my feet, my participation in the Pathways Women’s Cancer Teaching Project gave me such a sense of empowerment and fulfillment.”

“We may be small fish in a large sea, but your donation is what makes it possible for us to have a huge impact on women who call, needing the kind of support only Pathways offers”, continues Andrews,  “The needs are so many, and our resources so limited. Please make a donation today, knowing with confidence that your money is directly impacting those who need your help the most”.
