NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – By the April 1 filing deadline, two Republicans and no Democrats stepped forward to have their names placed on the borough’s June primary ballot.
Borough Clerk Wendi Barry confirmed that councilmen Michael Gennaro and Robert Munoz had filed the necessary papers to appear on the ballot.
Gennaro, president of a multi-state engineering firm, has served on the Borough Council since 2007. Currently he is the Council President, chairman of the Finance Committee and has consistently said his biggest priority is controlling property taxes while maintaining outstanding municipal services.
“I’ve been urged to continue by the Republican Committee, fellow council members and residents,” Gennaro said
Like Gennaro, Councilman Munoz also has a unique set of credentials highly valued in serving on municipal government. He has degrees in accounting and law and has been approved by the State Supreme Court as an economic mediator.
In seeking re-election, Munoz wants to ensure that the borough continues in the right direction. “We’ve made significant progress and I want to see that it continues.”
