St. Joseph Social Service Center (SJSSC) in Elizabeth, NJ is in urgent need of temporary space for about two weeks. The space should be approximately the size of a gym or cafeteria in Union County (2,000 – 2,500 square feet). Every year, for the past 30 years, St. Joseph Social Service Center has served local families and people in need during the holiday season with Christmas packages and gifts. St. Joseph’s Social Service Center and a huge staff of volunteers set up a receiving zone where generous donors drop off gifts for the Giving Tree Program. They use this space to sort and wrap the packages for the families and individuals in need during the holidays for the period from December 1st through December 18th. The facility would need to have heat, be secure and offer restrooms for the volunteers. There is no question this is an important service to those in need in Union County.

Since 1983, St. Joseph Social Service Center has served the materially poor and homeless community of greater Elizabeth, New Jersey by providing basic human needs such as food, clothing and medications, as well as a wide range of services and programs to help them acquire the material goods and social services they need to live with integrity. SJSSC provides local food pantry services, a soup kitchen on Saturday afternoons, bagged lunches and bread during the week, and health, counseling and therapy services. SJSSC also provides adult employment training services through Project Ready. Project Ready is a six-week training program providing adult students with the skills needed to find employment.
