NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - New Providence American Legion Post 433 will host a Veterans Day Remembrance ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at 357 Elkwood Ave. in New Providence.

There will be a dedication of the Post walkway, ramp and rest facilities in remembrance of LCpl. Christopher B. Cosgrove III, USMCNA, who died on October 1, 2006 at the age of 23, while serving with 1BN 25th Marines in Iraq. Born in Livingston, Chris was raised in Cranford, Cedar Knolls and New Providence. He graduated from Whippany Park High School where he played football, lacrosse and was on the wrestling team. He attended and graduated from Monmouth University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History. During that time Chris played Rugby with the Monmouth County Rugby Team. 

In 2006, Christopher and other Marines were activated to serve with the 1st Battalion, 25th Marines from Connecticut in Iraq. He was days away from coming home, when he was killed in action.
