Change is Starting

Lacey Rzeszowski on the campaign trail.

Dear Neighbors,

The news from Tuesday’s Primary election is good.  Democratic voters in Summit and the other towns comprising Legislative District 21 are speaking up.

I’m pleased to report that Democratic turnout in LD 21 in 2017 was a stunning 3 ½ times greater than in 2009, the most recent comparable primary when the governor’s seat was in play. Democratic turnout increased a dramatic 245% while Republican turnout in the 16-town district decreased 16.2% for the same period. This increase surpasses statewide trends: Democratic voter turnout for the gubernatorial election was up almost 2 1/2 times (146.5%) for the same period  (493,000 voters in 2017 vs 200,000 in 2009*).

I am humbled to have received more votes than any other legislative candidate in this district, and I am thrilled with the momentum and support.  Voters in District 21 are clearly demanding a representative in Trenton who will put issues before party and take action.

To date, I’ve canvassed over 1,000 doors, listening to the concerns of voters in each of the 16 towns in our district.  This race is truly just beginning.  Please take a moment to consider how you can help bring positive change to our state, whether it is by going door to door with me, hosting an event, following and sharing on social media, or making a campaign contribution.

Change starts here.

Lacey Rzeszowski is the Democratic Candidate for State Assembly in the New Jersey's 21st Legislative District.

Parting Advice from Four Decades on the Front Lines of Local News

November 11, 2017

In February 1978 I walked into the office of The Rahway News-Record and Clark Patriot to begin what I thought was to be a short-term job stepping stone.

Instead, it turned out to be a nearly 40-year odyssey in local journalism—including the last eight—overwhelmingly great—years with The Alternative Press (TapInto.Net).

I have decided it is time to spend more time in ...

I Reported It Myself!

Each year there seems to be more schools relying on self-reported test scores and transcripts on their applications.  While they may, in the long run, streamline the application process I’ve seen them cause a good amount of stress during this already stressful process.  Should an optional test score self-report be filled in?  How do I know whether to mark my class as a ...
