Big Bird is The Word: Summit's Congregation Beth Hatikvah Hosts 'It's a Muppet Purim' March 3

SUMMIT, NJ - 'The Muppets' travel to Persia in Congregation Beth Hatikvah’s zaniest version yet of the Purim story, to be staged Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. The original book by Steve Kaflowitz of New Providence features parodies of familiar Sesame Street tunes and pop favorites paired with plenty of slapstick and general silliness. 

The show is appropriate for, and intended to delight, children and adults of all ages.

The cast, overseen by professional director Karen Cooper of Morristown, includes:

Fozzie Bear (Steve Wetter of Chatham) as King Ahashverosh

MIss Piggy (Kelly Cole, Chatham) as Esther

Kermit the Frog (Lori Rosen, Summit) as Mordechai

Big Bird (Tammy Resnikoff, Morristown) as Vashti

Special guest appearance by Oscar the Grouch (Marty Meyers, Livingston) as Haman

Featuring Abby Rosen of Summit, Bernadette Traina of Madison, Ryder Levine of Summit, along with Josh and Sarah Silverberg of Summit.

After the one-hour performance, attendees are invited to stay to mingle and enjoy desserts, including hamantaschen, the traditional Purim treat.  Everyone is welcome, with a suggested donation $5 at the door.

Congregation Beth Hatikvah is located at 36 Chatham Road.
