SUMMIT, NJ - For nearly two decades, a group of volunteers from St. Teresa of Avila Church has made an annual trip a small town in Mexico, not far from Mexico City. Many Summit High School and middle school volunteers have played an essential role on this service trip and are often accompanied by a parent.

Projects have included construction and field restoration.Volunteers go on house visits to make a connection to the families with students in the program. A Summit doctor and dentist set up a clinic while there to provide free medical care.

After the most-recent trip in June 2019, one participant said, "The people here have so little, yet they tell us the help we provide makes such an incredible impact on their lives. Their gratitude has changed me forever."
