Veteran's Appreciation Day

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- NJVetsConnect will be hosting a special "Veteran's Appreciation Day" on Sunday, Nov. 5, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church in honor of the upcoming Veteran's Day.  

NJ VetsConnect is a group who's mission is to bring Veteran's together in Fellowship, Camaraderie and Connection.  Led by a group of military veterans, the organization hopes to provide a place for veterans to come together and help one another.  

The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a "Resume Writing Workshop" which is geared specifically towards Veteran's and their military experience. There will trained professionals on hand to discuss making the "military to civilian" transition. There will also be a special Mass celebrated for Veteran's at 12:00 Noon in the church where all Veteran's will be honored and welcome.

Finally, the St. Bartholomew Youth Group will host a special luncheon to honor Veterans' young and old!  You can come for one or all of the events. Just be sure to come. RSVP to NJVetsConnect@gmail.com with your name, email and which events you will be attending. In an effort to review and provide meaningful feedback on resumes, we ask that you forward your resume one week prior to the event. 

All veterans are invited to join, as NJVetsConnect looks to honor you!  Please be sure to share with your veteran brothers and sisters.

Watchung Borough Mayor and Council Approve Affordable Housing Settlement

WATCHUNG, NJ -The Watchung Borough Council voted on Thursday night  to settle its third round affordable housing obligation mandated by the state of New Jersey. Watchung Borough’s immunity from builder's remedy lawsuits  expires on June 30.

 Mayor Stephen Pote was forced to cast the deciding vote after the council deadlocked at 3-3.
