Cooking Class Teaches Portion, Calories and Food Combinations, 'Indian Harvest' Theme, Saturday, March 17

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Join a cooking class on Saturday, March 17 at 10 a.m. that will teach you the truth about eating right at K Primary Care and Medical Nutrition Center.

We realize that learning how to cook is only part of the puzzle to eating right. The other part is understanding how much to eat and knowing what foods to combine so you get a feeling of satiety. That’s how the idea of K heavenly bowls was born.

At each class we will teach you how to create a bowl focusing on calories, portions and combinations from a variety of cuisines. Each bowl will have about 3 items and will be a complete meal with about 300 to 600 calories.

Each class will be in the demonstration format. One bowl will be cooked per class. Nutrition information and recipes will be provided.

Saturday's menu is an Indian Harvest theme that includes Easy Indian Baked Cauliflower, Savory Pigeon Pea Dal, Brown Rice Pulao with Corn, Spinach and Potatoes. The Cost is $25 per class (free for program participants). Seating is limited to 10 participants so don't delay in signing up.

Call 908-206-4676 to reserve your seat.

K Primary Care and Medical Weight Loss Center is located at 571 Central Ave. in New Providence.

Too Soon

I got a call today from the anxious parent of a sixth grader who wanted some guidance on how to best help his student position herself for success in college.  What classes should she take now? Would it be worth it to investigate private school? When is it too early to start looking at college campuses?

While thinking college with a 12-year-old may seem crazy to some, any parent reading ...
