New Providence High School PTSA Sponsors Annual Tricky Tray / Fashion Show on Saturday, March 23rd

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is sponsoring its annual Tricky Tray / Fashion Show fundraiser on Saturday, March 23rd at New Providence High School. "Some Enchanted Evening” is the theme for this year's event.

Just as in years past, Denise Moser, NPHS art teacher, conducted a contest for students to design the event’s publicity poster. This year the winner of the contest was a collaboration: art by Christian Cadmus and Lauren Rinaldi.

NEW this year – to go with our student centered event – a silent auction was added featuring the talents of our NPHS students.  Scratch art, photographs, original paintings, pottery and word work are some of the items to bid on.  All these items were made through the hard work and immense talents of our students.

The evening begins with guests enjoying a large selection of appetizers and a stroll around to “shop” the many wonderful tricky tray baskets on display all to the music accompaniment of DJ Souren.  The baskets are valued at over $12,000, with great prizes, including iPad, jewelry, Coach, Airpods, Williams Sonoma, Broadway tickets, Giants and Yankees tickets, a bicycle, a fire pit, restaurant and other services gift certificates, and so much more!  There will be a 50/50 Raffle as well.

The evening continues with a runway show, featuring formal attire generously provided by Adams Fine Clothing in New Providence, Lord & Taylor of Westfield, David’s Bridal in Short Hills, and Macy’s in Livingston. Over 80 glamorous and handsome New Providence High School seniors will walk the runway and provide a glimpse into this year's fashions for the upcoming prom season. Intermission will feature a basket or two being chosen and there may be one or two surprise performances from our accomplished student body.  During the fashion show, the winners of the Tricky Tray baskets are selected, and will be announced after the show.  You don’t need to remain at the show to win baskets, but we highly recommend it!

The Tricky Tray / Fashion Show is the PTSA’s primary fundraiser, used to finance all the PTSA events during the school year.  In addition to all we do, the PTSA has been working to create a plan to renovate the high school courtyard.  Plans include creating a usable, multi-functioning, green space, with patios, shrubbery and trees, seating, and an additional outdoor lunch area. If enough funds are raised, lighting and electrical/charging stations can be included in the plans for evening events.  We are hoping to add a water feature, which will add an atmosphere of calm and relaxation, if we can raise enough funds.   Come to our event to see the unveiling of the plans for what the courtyard can be!  The picture below is just a teaser of a corner of an artist’s rendering….

All in the community are welcome to attend. Come join in the festivities!  Parents, children, grandparents, friends!  Make your way over to New Providence High School on Saturday, March 23rd, to enjoy a full evening of fun.  And, you may go home a winner!

Navigating Qualified Charitable Distributions

It’s the charitable season which means you may be getting ready to donate to your favorite charity or nonprofit. Since new tax laws were implemented in 2017, you may want to reconsider how you make your donation (if you haven’t already).
