He was a US Coast Guard veteran, serving during World War II from 1942-45. Mickey was employed as a courier for Allstate Insurance Co. in Murray Hill, NJ for 18 years before retiring in 1987. Earlier he had been employed as diamond reclaimer at JK Smit in New Providence.

Mickey was an active volunteer in the New Providence community. He was a 67-year member of the New Providence Fire Dept. where he had served as past-president, chief and fire inspector. Mickey was an avid golfer, a great puzzle maker, and a longtime umpire for the men’s softball league in New Providence. He always waited patiently for Saturday afternoons in the fall when he could watch his beloved Notre Dame football team play.

Mickey’s greatest love was for his family. His is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Theresa Allocco (nee Cirelli) of New Providence; his loving sons, Jerry (Linda) Allocco of New Providence, Michael (Carlene) Allocco, Jr. of South Plainfield, Frank (Phyllis) Allocco of Concord, CA and Richard Allocco of Danville, CA; his cherished grandchildren, Tracy Keegan, Mary Stoddard, Joseph Allocco, Michael Allocco, III, Ashley Wilson, Courtney Allocco, Kristen Gray, Frank Allocco, Michael Allocco, and Megan Hansen and 14 great-grandchildren.
