The New Providence Memorial Library will kick off December by hosting a Gingerbread House Decorating event and contest!

Families, individuals, or groups of friends may register in person at the New Providence Memorial Library for this event, which will take place on Sunday, December 1 at 1:45. Each group of 1-5 people will receive a gingerbread house kit and will be able to decorate it at the library during the event. Afterwards, the finished gingerbread houses will be on display in the library from Dec 2 through Dec 6. The public will vote on their favorite gingerbread house entry, and the top 3 entries will win a free bag of books from the AfterWords Bookstore in the basement of the library. At the conclusion of the contest, all groups who decorated a gingerbread house may take them home.

When you register, the library will collect a refundable $10 deposit, which you will get back when you arrive to decorate your gingerbread house. (No shows will not receive their deposit back, as it will go to cover the cost of materials purchased in advance.) This event is for all ages, but children age 10 & under must be accompanied by a parent who can assist with this project.
