New Providence has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. This marks the eighth time, and seventh year in a row, New Providence has earned this distinction.

Now in its 20th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, New Providence answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, and support for the music programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

“This recognition represents the community’s passion and support for the arts and we are very fortunate to have a dedicated staff that is committed to music education.” said Dr. David Miceli, Superintendent of Schools. “On behalf of the New Providence Board of Education, we would like to congratulate the entire community on this national designation.”
