November 5 @ 7 PM- Read to a Dog (Kids)

Children in grades 1-5 can practice reading aloud to Seeing Eye dogs in-training. Registration is required. You can bring a book of your own or choose from the library's selection.  Registration is required.

November 7 @ 12 - 3PM - Teen Movie: Avengers End Game (Teens)

Enjoy your day off school and hang with friends for the conclusion to the Marvel Avengers epic storyline. Rated PG-13.

Have you read “An American Marriage” by Tayari Jones? It’s an Oprah Book Club pick and was chosen several times as one the best books of 2018. Join the evening book group for their discussion.  Copies available to check out at the circulation desk starting one month ahead. New members welcome.

November 12 @ 3:30 PM- Snap Circuits Jr. Club (Kids)

Calling all budding scientists and engineers! Snap circuits makes learning electronics easy and fun! Come and put together various circuit boards.

November 12 @ 7:30 PM - Jon Gertner Author Event: “The Ice at the End of the World” (Adults)

Jon Gertner, author of the bestselling book “The Idea Factory,” will speak about his latest book, “The Ice at the End of the World: an Epic Journey into Greenland’s Buried Past and Our Perilous Future”.  Gertner reconstructs in thrilling detail the heroic efforts of the scientists and explorers who have visited Greenland over the past 150 years to uncover secrets revealed by the ice before it’s too late. A book signing will follow, with a few copies of the new book available for purchase. You may also bring your own copy of either of Gertner’s books for signing. Co-sponsored by the New Providence Sustainability Committee.   

November 14 @ 3:30 - 5:00 PM - Teen Wii Gaming: Super Smash Bros. Tournament (Teens)

Come play some old school Wii with friends. Sign in as you arrive so everyone gets a turn in this bracket-style elimination event. See who can claim the title of Super Smash Bros. champion!

November 16 @ 10 AM to 12 PM - DSLR Camera Basics (Adults)

Do you have a fancy DSLR but only know how to use the auto mode? Anne Sorochen, a New Providence resident and intermediate-level amateur photographer, is hosting a photography workshop to help you get your camera off the automatic mode. Learn the basics of your DSLR including aperture, shutter, ISO and focus. November 16 @ 2 PM - Erin Rafanello Ferguson Author Event: Earl the Christmas Tree Spider (Family)

Author Erin Rafanello Ferguson will return to her hometown of New Providence to read and discuss her book, “Earl the Christmas Tree Spider.”  A signing will follow the reading.  Books can be purchased online at amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com.

November 17 @ 3 PM- Dino to Doo-Wop: A Musical Story (Adults)

Singer Joey Gilligan takes his audience through the era they called the "Fabulous 50s," the decade when music transformed from Big Band to Pop to Rock N Roll.  While entertaining us with wonderful musical performances, he will share interesting stories about the singers, along with comedy and facts about the era.  This program made possible by the Friends of the New Providence Memorial Library.

Fearless Anna and her friends set off on an epic journey to save their kingdom. See the first film before Frozen 2 comes out in theaters on 11/22. Film is rated PG. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
