NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The COVID-19 pandemic and the need to be socially distant has really put a damper on typically well-celebrated milestones. So far we have seen birthday parades and visits from parish leaders on children’s First Holy Communion dates on social media. As we all try to make lemonade out of lemons, you may find yourself wondering, what could be next? College graduations, of course!
The Minto Family of New Providence, like many other families, could not attend a formal graduation ceremony for their daughter who was graduating from University of Michigan. On May 2nd, they decided to celebrate the milestone by having a drive by surprise graduation procession followed by a little safe social distancing at their home. Lynne Minto said, “It allowed others to congratulate her and allowed my daughter to be recognized. It was a great community show of family, friends, love and respect for social distancing while still celebrating a momentous event.”
