NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Twenty-one New Providence musicians qualified for all-state choirs this year. Six students from Allen W. Roberts School and seven students from Salt Brook School were selected for the New Jersey Elementary All-State Honor Choir. Five students from New Providence Middle School were accepted into the New Jersey Junior High All-State Honor Choir. Three students from New Providence High School sang with the NJMEA High School All-State Choirs. One student, senior Jade Navarro, was also selected to represent New Jersey at the All-Eastern Choir in Pittsburgh in April, a group of top singers from eleven states in the northeast. The students were presented with certificates of excellence from the Board of Education on March 28.

Singers from throughout the state auditioned for expert judges. Only students earning the top scores were accepted into these prestigious groups. New Providence vocal music teachers Susan Kirkland, Catherine Flynn, Kenneth Hess and Pamela Crockett prepared the students for their auditions.
