We have 1 new case (non-LTC) and no new deaths to report. Although cases are slowing, this virus is still here, so please continue following all safety protocols, washing hands, disinfecting, and social distancing. Please continue to keep our lost, afflicted, and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Please also continue to keep a light in your window to help light up our nights in support, remembrance, and in solidarity in our fight against COVID-19. We will continue to keep you updated as we receive confirmed information.
I had the honor today of swearing in Dan Henn to the rank of Captain. Captain Henn has not only been a dedicated police officer in our Borough, he has also been a coach, a PTA President at Salt Brook School, served on our Borough Planning Board, and many other community organizations. He is very well respected in our community and we wish him well in his new role. Congratulations Captain Henn!
Council has approved temporary softening of zoning regulations to permit outside restaurant dining, gym, fitness, and yoga outdoor classes, and outdoor business vending beginning June 15. We encourage everyone to please shop locally and support our small businesses. For years, they have been there for us. Now they really need us to be there for them! Shop New Providence!
The Governor announced today that municipal and private-club swimming pools can REOPEN on Monday, June 22nd. This is great news for our Community Pool! The New Jersey Department of Health will release full guidance tomorrow relating to the procedures and protocols that will need to be followed.
In order to help Union County voters familiarize themselves with Vote-by-Mail procedures, Union County has released a “How to Vote a Vote-by-Mail Ballot" video on the County Clerk’s elections website: www.unioncountyvotes.com. This video is also available on the free Union County Votes app for mobile devices. Due to the pandemic, the Governor has mandated that the July 7th election will be conducted primarily by Vote-by-Mail. Please watch this video to ensure you are filling out and returning your ballot correctly. For more information: https://wp.me/p4sLwl-lW5
