This edition features Elite Care Physical Therapy, 10 Summit Ave., Berkeley Heights, which is owned by Russell Altman.
Elite Care Physical Therapy helps Active Adults return quickly to busy lifestyles and workouts with a top-notch, hands-on therapy approach you won’t find anywhere else. We utilize a user-friendly approach to rehabbing common musculoskeletal injuries that allows you to have fun and get better quicker without medications or multiple trips to the doctors.
TAPinto: What year was your company founded? Did you found the company? Why did you choose to get involved in this business?
Russell Altman: Elite Care Physical Therapy opened in 2017 when I discovered a need for quality, direct-access Physical Therapy to help people return quickly to their active lifestyle. I wanted to have a way for people to reach out to me and get better quicker.
TAPinto: What is unique about your business?
Russell Altman: We don't follow the whole three times a week for six weeks mantra. If you start to feel better sooner, then we see less of you as you take more ownership of your recovery and continue to move better and back to where you want to be. We like to hear ourselves talk, which is why we take time to explain every aspect of what we are doing and make sure you understand what is going on as well. We also love to listen and tailor out treatments to what your goals are.
TAPinto: What is most important for people to know about your business?
Russell Altman: We do not require a referral or prescription to start a course of Physical Therapy. New Jersey is a direct access state which allows DPTs (Doctors of Physical Therapy) to evaluate and treat people as a primary caregiver for all musculoskeletal injuries. We also offer great access to our Physical Therapist any time of the day, if you have any questions, and we do take walk-ins.
TAPinto: What sets you apart from your competition?
Russell Altman: Not all Physical Therapists are equal. We have a special blend of manual therapy, exercise prescription, and patient education that sets us apart. Our sessions are a collaboration with the aim of getting you to move better, quicker. We do not utilize any aides or techs; you will only work with the Physical Therapist to help get back to where you want to be faster.
TAPinto: Anything else that you want to share about yourself or your business?
Russell Altman: I pride myself on my ability to relate to the patients and educate them in their diagnoses, treatment, and prognosis. Patient education is of utmost importance in this field. If the patient can understand the "how and why" of their treatment and recovery, it makes the recovery 10 times easier for both the patient and me. Fifty percent of my job is to communicate to the patient the "how and why" of an injury and the "how and why" of their selected treatment plan. If this is achieved, then the other 50% of my job becomes much easier, and the patient benefits greatly from a shorter recovery and a quicker return to their prior level of activity. We have a high number of return patients; not because they get injured often but because they trust that they'll get better every time they contact us.
Business Hours: Elite Care Physical Therapy is open Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and by appointment only on Saturday.
