BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J. - Please be advised that Plainfield Ave from Springfield Ave to Valley Rd in Berkeley Heights will be closed due to construction for eight nights starting July 22. The work will be done in two stages; the first stage will close Plainfield Ave from Springfield Ave to Mountain Ave and the second phase will close Plainfield Ave from Mountain Ave to Valley Road. Road Closures will be at night only, from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 am.
The work being performed will consist of various road improvements, such as milling, paving, and striping of the road. Due to the nature of the work involved, the amount of men and machinery required, full road closure will be necessary in the area of work to optimize the safety of the work crews and motoring public alike. To minimize impact on local traffic, the work will be performed overnight. The road will be closed from approximately 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning weather permitting.
A clearly marked detour route using Snyder Ave will be maintained by the contractor. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone. Access to residences, including deliveries and other services, in the work zone will be allowed as much as possible.
