CHATHAM, NJ - The Borough of Chatham Council unanimously voted in favor of a resolution it intends to send to President Donald Trump and elected officials at all levels of government urging the enactment of "common sense, multi-faceted reforms to prevent gun violence in our school communities," at its regular meeting on Monday night.

Chatham Borough Council President Len Resto wrote the rough draft of the resolution, which was edited and rewritten with the help of Chatham Borough Mayor Bruce Harris, and council members Bob Weber, Thad Kobylarz and Peter Hoffman.

Resto read the resolution into the record, which detailed seven legislative measure the council supports.

During the public comment portion of the meeting, Chatham resident Matt Wagner disputed some of the statistics cited in the resolution and objected to the 21-year-old age limit on purchases. See Wagner's full comments below.

The seven bullet points that the council will be sending to the president, leaders of both houses, Gov. Phil Murphy and New Jersey senators and congress members.
