BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Ligia DelDuca, 52 years of age, from Berkeley Heights was charged on August 1, 2019 with filing a fictitious police report, a crime of the fourth degree.

On June 17, 2019, the BHPD responded to the Stop and Shop on report of a female robbed at knife point in the parking lot by an unknown assailant. 

A thorough and extensive investigation was conducted by the BHPD Investigations Division which determined that the incident did not occur as the story was fabricated, said a statement by the BHPD.

DelDuca was charged and released pending a court appearance in the Union County Superior Court.
