NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence Fire Department responded to numerous calls during last night's "intense storm" ranging from various water conditions, natural gas leaks, fire alarms and stranded motorists due to street flooding.

"We also answered mutual aid requests for both Berkeley Heights Fire Departmentand City of Summit Fire Department," the post stated.

The NPFD would like to remind the public to stay vigilant when storms like these do occur:
• Monitor watches and warnings from the National Weather Service before going outside.
• Never attempt to drive through street flooding.
• Keep an eye on sump pumps and property conditions.
