At approximately 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning the New Providence Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Prestige Diner. When firefighters arrived they found a heavy smoke condition coming from the basement and rear of the structure. We are working hard to reopen as quickly as possible and will update when we have information. Thank you for your support through these recent weeks."
When the story was first reported Thursday morning , Jenny Pagano, a regular customer of the diner said, “The town would literally go over with hammers and nails to put it back up. Like ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ he’s kind of our George Bailey.”
