NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - This past Monday night at the scheduled council meeting, New Providence Mayor Al Morgan presented a proclamation to New Providence PAL Baseball teams for their winning season, which was received by many of the team players and coaches in attendance. PAL's 200+ players comprising 15 teams in their summer travel program and over 30 children within their T-ball/Coach Pitch local league, PAL had four teams win their respective NPGL League playoffs:

  • 11U Gold team coached by Matt Cumiskey (won regular season and playoffs)
  • 13U Gold team coached by Steve Kowantz (won the playoffs in the 14U division)
  • 9U Green team coached by Roger Askins  (won regular season and playoffs)
  • 7U Gold team coached by Chris Naughton

In addition, PAL was able to expand their program with their first middle school team this spring and formed three high school summer teams as well, all coached by the high school coaching staff.

"NP PAL baseball program believes the support of the New Providence agencies such as the Recreation Department, the Public Works, Police Department, and Town Council for the fields, and all of the families who contribute to our program are the key to their success," said New Providence PAL.
