UNION, NJ -- The New Providence baseball team snapped a batting slump with a 10-6 victory over Union on the road Friday.

The Pioneers (7-9) scored four runs in the first inning and two more in the second inning. They led, 10-1, in the middle of the sixth inning.

Matthew Marchesano and Thomas Friscia each delivered three hits and drove in two runs for New Providence. Dylan Bedder and Jeff Policarpio each had two hits and two RBI, Chris Kubas went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and Jack Connor doubled in two runs for New Providence.

Connor allowed two hits and three earned runs in six innings for the victory. He struck out seven and walked four. Mike Velez hit a grand slam in the seventh for Union (7-7), which left the bases loaded to finish the game.
