PLAINFIELD, NJ -- New Providence built an 18-point halftime lead and went on to a 47-16 girls basketball victory over Plainfield on opening night Thursday.

Freshman Meghan Lamanna made her debut with a team-high tying 14 points and four rebounds. Lindsay Kinum finished with 14 points, three assists, four rebounds and five steals for the Pioneers, who led, 14-5, at the end of a quarter and 24-6 at halftime.

Freshman swing Grace Kelly led New Providence in rebounding with seven. Kaitlyn Cumiskey finished with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in the victory.
