ROSELLE, NJ -- The Gov. Livingston ice hockey team opened the Union County Tournament with a 4-1 victory over Oratory in the preliminary round Monday at Warinanco Rink.

The Highlanders (8-7-1) scored three goals in the second period after the teams skated to a 1-1 deadlock at the end of one period.

Kyle Cook, Jeremy Malave, Brandon Cuccaro and Brian Kramer each accounted for one GL goal. Shane Cook turned in a strong performance in goal, enabling the Highlanders to shut out Oratory the rest of the way.

Gov. Livingston's tournament victory avenged a regular-season loss to Oratory, which defeated the Highlanders, 3-2, on Jan. 12.
