NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ -- Senior center infielder Jason Marcantuone who would have played his first varsity season on the Pioneer varsity baseball team.

"Jason would have helped us as a shortstop and an outfielder this year," said New Providence head baseball coach Chris Brodeur. "Jason is another player who displays what it means to be a great teammate. He would have gained confidence as the season went on, and become a solid contributor.  Jason stands out as a player who is willing to do what it takes to get better, and is not afraid to work hard."

Marcantuone's favorite high school highlight was hitting a walk off against Oratory Prep during his freshman year after having a down game prior to the last at bat.

Jason: My first ever hit was when I was 8 years old.  My family and uncles were there to see me play and it was a special moment since they were there to see such an accomplishment.

TAPinto: How are you doing during this period of isolation?

Jason: There are certainly very difficult times during isolation, but staying distracted through communication with friends and hyscae activities help facilitate this process.

TAPinto: What will the first thing you do once restrictions are lifted?

Jason: I will visit the family and friends I have not seen in months.
