NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ -- Senior pitcher and second baseman Nate Scott would have returned as a three-year starter of the 2020 Pioneer varsity baseball team.

"He would have played 2B, and been our number one pitcher," said New Providence head baseball coach Chris Brodeur. "Voted captain by the team last year, Nate embodies what it means to be a Pioneer baseball player. His love of the game is felt by everyone he comes in contact with. Nate stands out as both competitive, and fun-loving, he knows what it takes to win, as he has contributed to both our past two sectional championships."

Scott's high school highlight is winning back to back sectional titles with the Pioneer team. New Providence defeated Brearley of Kenilworth 3-1 for the 2019 Section 2, Group 1 Championship. The prior year the Pioneers defeated Dunellen in the title game.
