BLOOMFIELD, NJ – You just knew immediately following the opening tip-off that this game would go down to the wire. Unfortunately, for Bloomfield Boys Varsity Basketball, they were on the losing end of a buzzer-beater as Barringer pulled out a last second 52-51 win over the Bengals on Tuesday at Bloomfield High School.
 
Coming on the heels of a 57-48 win against Randolph High School on Sunday, Bloomfield looked to make it two straight against the Blue Bears in this Super Essex Conference - Liberty Division match-up.
 
Bloomfield led 11-8 after the first quarter and the Bengals extended their lead to as many as 6-points, but Barringer went on a 7-0 run to take a 23-21 halftime lead.
 
 
The first half alone saw 5 tie scores and 7 lead changes.
 
Barringer outscored Bloomfield 15-13 in the third quarter to lead 38-34. 
 
After Bloomfield rallied in the fourth quarter to take a 51-49 lead, Barringer his a three-point bucket as time expired to hand the Bengals the 52-51 loss.
 
Senior forward William Robinson led Bloomfield with 17 points while senior Tochi Anyanwu had 11 points.

 
For Barringer, Corey Walker had 14 points and Skerling Reynoso had 11 points.
 
With the loss, Bloomfield’s drops to 6-4 overall and are 2-1 in the division.  Barringer improves to 5-3 overall and are 2-0 in the division.
 
The Bengals return to action when they host Millburn High School in a division game this Thursday, January 10 at 4:00 pm at Bloomfield High School.  The Millers are 1-7 overall on the season, and 0-3 in the division.
