SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Three towns are finally seeing improvements long promised to the Irvington Avenue corridor that traverses South Orange, Maplewood, and Newark.

Essex County has begun construction "to modernize Irvington Avenue," the County said in a statement. Essex County will be updating crosswalks, curbs, lighting and trash receptacles along Irvington Avenue.

The plan was presented to the public a year ago, and it was originally scheduled to have been completed this past spring.
