NEWARK, NJ  — The November election is 46 days away.

Newark voters, like many New Jersey, have a plethora of deadlines to keep in mind and much to consider ahead of Election Day 2020.

Unlike most municipalities, however, Newark is providing residents with access to a "super" polling site at the Prudential Center, where voters can apply for mail-in ballots, register to vote, drop off their ballots, vote early and vote in-person via a provisional ballot on Nov. 3.

Prudential is easily accessible to many of the city’s buildings where seniors live, Mayor Ras Baraka said at a press conference, and officials hope its central location will encourage more people to vote. Parking will be free on election day at 15 Lafayette St. Along with the Prudential Super Polling site, Newark Public Library hosting National Voter Day events at the main branch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 22.

Essex County also has 23 other secure drop-off sites, listed here, throughout its municipalities.

The state recently launched a portal where Garden State residents can register to vote and track their mail-in ballots. Essex County announced 23 locations where voters can drop off their VBM envelopes.
