La Casa de Don Pedro, one of Northern New Jersey’s premier community based social service and community development organizations, will host La Casa es su Casa, it's signature annual cocktails and hors d’oeuvres reception on Thursday, April 11, 6:00pm – 8:30pm at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. 

This year’s theme is “Newark on the Map in the Face of Change.”

The evening will celebrate and recognize leaders, both serving behind the scenes, and those up front and center, who are helping uplift Newark’s people and communities during this time of change and growth.

La Casa de Don Pedro will honor Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Prudential Financial’s Impact Investing Team, Annmarie Basile, and La Casa de Don Pedro’s Education and Workforce Team.

Mayor Ras J. Baraka is leading The City of Newark towards development and social equity by championing strategies that promote equitable economic growth that create opportunities for minority and low-income communities.

Founded on the belief that financial security should be within everyone’s reach, Prudential Financial’s Impact Investing Team has been a pioneer in impact investing, managing one of the largest impact investment portfolios in the world.

For more than a dozen years Annmarie Basile’s acts of kindness and generosity through coordinating countless food and toy drives have nourished and uplifted thousands of Newark’s families, serving as a reminder that there are plenty of meaningful ways to stabilize, enrich, and support the lives of Newarkers.

La Casa's Education and Workforce Team has increased the economic vitality of thousands of Newarkers through adult education, English language instruction, and career training opportunities, to name a few.

Aisha Glover, President and CEO of the Newark Alliance will serve as the evening’s emcee. Guests will be invited to support an appeal for La Casa de Don Pedro’s Education & Workforce team’s initiatives and programs to continue to support the people of Newark in achieving economic vitality and independence. NJPAC’s Wells Fargo Jazz for Teens program will provide musical entertainment.
